Day 1 Reaching Paris

AM: Get ready to step back in time to France's glory days with a visit to the Palace of Versailles. One of the world's most prestigious artistic heritages, representing the finest and most complete collection of 17th-century French art. It was once the residence of the "Sun King" Louis XIV, and was home to three of France's most illustrious kings for over a century. Your expert guide will take you on a guided tour of the palace's interior. At the end of the palace tour, you'll have free time to stroll through the famous "French gardens", a sprawling 2,000-acre park masterfully designed by André Le Nôtre.

PM: Afternoon at leisure in Paris to admire the Christmas market in the Jardin des Tuileries, the lights on the Champs Elysées or the covered passages filled with small boutiques and leading to the Grands Magasins.

Evening: Board your boat for a dinner cruise on the Seine. This is a magical way to discover the beauty of Paris in the evening, when the city's monuments are magnificently illuminated. Visit Obernai or Bergheim, where daily markets await, showcasing the best of the season. On select dates, our stop will include the captivating Christmas Markets of Riquewihr or Ribeauvillé, known for their medieval charm and festive atmosphere.

AM: Discover the city of Strasbourg in a fun & informative way as you taste some of the best gastronomic produce of Alsace. Cuisine and gourmet food are passions for most French people and the region has many specialties combining its unique French and Germanic cultural heritage — a very special flavor!
From lovely fresh white asparagus, local foie gras, juniper-flavored sauerkraut, pies made from local berries, smocked mountain hams, colorful Quetsche plums, breads of all shapes, to delicious cakes and pastries, our local produce are known all over France.
Stroll through the pedestrian narrow lanes of the historical city center, admire the famous Cathedral of Notre-Dame, the gorgeous “Petite France” district and beautiful squares such as “Place Gutenberg. Follow your guide as you are introduced to some of the local food as well as traditional Arts & Crafts. Along the way, we will sample local food such as cured meat & cheese paired with local wines. Other stops will include tasting some traditional Alsatian brioche “kouglof”, and delicious 'pains d'épices', the local version of gingerbread.
