Day 1 Arrival in Carcassonne

Arrival in Carcassonne and installation at your 4-star hotel at the foot of the Medieval City. In the afternoon, private guided visit of the medieval city: the fortifications, the lices and the Basilica of Saint-Nazaire and the castle.
Your guide will give you information and ideas for a beautiful discovery of the Cathar Country. In the evening, enjoy exceptional views on the medieval city from your hotel room.

Through the splendid roads of Minervois, reach the Cathar City of Minerve. Built on a rocky escarpment at the confluence of rivers, Minerve belongs to the Association of the most beautiful villages in France and is a one of the major places during the crusade against the Cathar.
Enjoy a guided cruise on the Canal du Midi on a traditional barge with passage of locks, aqueduct, canal bridge, this part of the canal being one of the most beautiful.

Day 3 Mirepoix- Foix-Montsegur

Road to Mirepoix. This small town has kept its galleries of the covered market square.
Drive to Foix and visit the castle. Enjoy a total immersion in the medieval fortress! You will discover exceptional war machines, such as the trebuchet or the pierrière and an impressive drum winch, very useful for the counts' yards.
Road to the castle of Montsegur, last refuge of the Cathars at the time of the Crusades. Accommodation in Couiza, in a real Renaissance castle.

Road to the Cathar Castles of the Corbieres region, the famous hill topped Citadels.
Visit the castle of Quéribus, built on a rocky peak overlooking the Roussillon Plain and the Corbières. It was the last spot of resistance during the Crusade.
Continuation to Peyrepertuse Castle, the most remarkable example of medieval military architecture in Languedoc.Accommodation in Couiza, in a real Renaissance castle.

Day 5 Abbaye of fontfroide

Visit the beautiful abbey of Fontfroide, nestled in a setting of gardens in the heart of a protected massif. Accommodation at your 4-star hotel at the foot of the medieval city.
