The Midi canal connects the Garonne River to the Mediterranean Sea. First named 'royal canal in Languedoc', the revolutionaries called it "Midi channel" in 1789.
He is considered by his contemporaries as the main engineering work of the 17th century. Today connected to the Garonne canal, it is also known as "canal of the two seas" because it provides a waterway from the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean Sea.

Day 1 Beziers, a day to Grand tourist sites

In the morning, you will embark on a barge at the foot of the 7 locks of Fonseranes, that you will go up. It is the most important original technical work of Paul Riquet. 
Boat through the village of Colombiers to reach the Malpas tunnel, 1st tunnel to be built for a canal.

Lunch :  on board the barge.

In the afternoon, meet your guide near you barge and drive up on the Hill of Enserune from where you have a splendid view on the Béziers region and the dry Montady pond of the 13th century.
Route to Béziers for a guided tour during which you will discover not only the Cathedral district that dominates the city, but also a few private mansions nestled in the medieval streets. 

Advice : lunch in a nearby restaurant if you wish.
The visit of the Gallo-roman archeological site of Enserunes can be added in the afternoon.
