Arles is nowadays a beautiful and quiet city on the banks of the Rhone river.
Nevertheless, it used to be an important roman colony and it still preserves one of the most impressive historic heritages, from the Romans, the Middle Ages and is worth to be seen.
From Caesar to Van Gogh or Frederic Mistral, don’t miss its discovery.

Day 1 Arles

In the morning, meet your local guide for a tour of the City centre of Arles. This town is actually famous for the different styles of buildings and times that crossed its history. Visit the City hall square where you can admire a Roman obelisk or visit the Romanesque Style cathedral St Trophime.
All along your walk, your guide would show you the Forum square that used to be the centre of the Roman colony and is now replaced by the statue of the provençal poet Frederic Mistral or a coffeeshop painted by Van Gogh as the “yellow house”.
As every roman city, Arles did own a theatre and an amphitheatre that were the places where the local population was entertained.

Lunch: Traditional lunch in the Centre of Arles.

In the afternoon, choose between differents options:
- Visit the beautiful village of les Baux de Provence, overlooking the valley from its rocky spur.

- St Remy de Provence and St Paul de Mausole where Vincent Van Gogh was interned and painted most of his famous works.

- Or, visit the museum of Arles Antique, witness of the prestigious Roman city.
