CAMARGUE NATIONAL RESERVE PARK

In 1927, a French Organisation known as National Society of Nature Protection created a zone of 13 000 hectares only dedicated to fauna and flora protection, and this is why today it is so well preserved and why people live a true moment of magic and emotion when they come to visit.

When you come to travel in Camargue, a good option to explore the territory is to sail on one of the Rhone river arms: The little Rhone. For the ones who like to go on walking and on strolls the Badon salt marshes offers several paths. A walking way of 4.5 kilometres (nearly 3 miles) leads you to Badon, or to the Gacholle Light House. If you prefer different challenges, it is possible to cycles and ride bikes in Camargue, so, you go further and discover more and different spaces and animals.
If you leave Camargue without having riding a horse, you haven't seen anything. The white horse is after the bull, the other symbol of Camargue. A horse ride is an uncommon and fun way to discover Camargue fauna and flora. This is perhaps the better moment to share in family or between friends.

BIODIVERSITY IN CAMARGUE NATIONAL RESERVE PARK

It is the shelter of 270 species of birds, and among them, 258 species are protected as a quality of patrimonial richness and are inventoried. The true kings of the marshlands and the most beautiful birds of this park are the Pink Flamingos. Of course, it is better to have your camera because when they fly, they are part of the most majestic birds in this area. Birds are not everything in Camargue. It is possible to find more than 2000 species of insects, spiders, reptiles and mammals that escapes from the cities, its lights, noise and stressfull life.
